Importance for Educators

Purpose
As technology is rapidly evolving, it is something that is being integrated more into a child’s learning within the classroom environment. Technology itself is a tool that should redefine and transform learning, not just enhance it (Trust, 2018). Technology greatly impacts a child’s brain function and behaviour in areas that include self-regulation, sleep patterns, and attention spans. It is so relevant for educators to understand the impacts technology has on a child’s development, in order to combat the negatives, and to provide children with a positive learning experience that only enhances their development positively. Having educators recognizing and understanding the positives and negatives technology displays towards a child’s brain function and behaviour allows for educators to support and monitor children in these areas to transform their development and learning.
